Turn a Private Label Idea into a Development Brief
A development brief joins the product, packaging and commercial assumptions in one place. It gives the factory a concrete starting point for a useful quotation.
Define the working document
Define the customer group, intended retail position and initial assortment. Identify the must-have features and the options you are still comparing. A request for the lowest price alone leaves too many questions about material, cap and finish unanswered.
Connect the approval points
Create a style sheet for each proposed SKU. Include the length method, shade reference, lace area, cap details and packaging concept. State the approximate quantities and destination so the factory can discuss the relevant production and dispatch arrangements.

Keep the handover traceable
Keep proposed features separate from approved ones. Record which items need a sample, a cost revision or a further decision. When the brief changes, issue a new version rather than relying on several contradictory messages.
